On Friday, October 11, the Berkeley Center for Smart Infrastructure, in collaboration with East Bay Municipal Utility District and Carollo, hosted a workshop focusing on building and testing hazard-resilient pipeline systems. CSI hosted a lab tour for the San Francisco Geo-Institute (SFGI) on August 29. An introduction to CSI was given by Clifford Chan, the general manager of EBMUD, and Kenichi Soga.
DFOS was deployed on a new 140 m (460 ft) segment of 6-inch Earthquake Resistant Ductile Iron Pipe (ERDIP) in a location within the Hayward Fault Zone in Berkeley, California which had previously experienced water leakage and multiple main break events.
