Geological Database of the Berkeley Campus

A digital database of the campus geology was established based on the published geotechnical investigation reports since the 1950s, shown in Figure 1. The borehole data was extracted and reorganized as input for the software LEAPFROG to build the campus 3-D geological model. The fault information from USGS was also added to show the fault system dividing the campus. This model can help us better understand the geological condition of the Berkeley campus and estimate the geothermal potential through numerical simulation.
