On Feb. 1, GeoSystems PhD students organized the first ever Geotechnical Engineering Research Symposium (GERS), a conference where current Berkeley PhD students and research associates could discuss their research with friends and partners in the geotechnical industry.
Event organizers were Ezra Setiasabda, Christie Denissen Hale, Grigorios Lavrentiadis, and Estefan Garcia.
Over 120 participants gathered to hear oral presentations and interact one-on-one via a poster session. The event concluded with a discussion session where attendees talked about current issues in geoengineering, industry research needs, and ideas for future collaborations.
