Yuanjie is a postdoctoral scholar in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on field instrumentation, wireless sensing networks, and long-term monitoring of slopes and underground infrastructure.
Previously, he was a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, collaborating with the Ministry of National Development on sustainable urban greenery solutions. He developed polymer-based osmotic tensiometers for real-time soil suction and moisture monitoring, providing data for GIS-based water balance models and slope stability assessments.
Yuanjie completed his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering at Georgia Tech, with much of his research conducted at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. His work involved designing experimental systems for studying energy-related geosystems under repetitive geo-environmental loads. These findings have informed improved design guidelines for geo-structures.
Research Interests:
- GIS-based slope monitoring and urban greenery solutions
- Coupled processes in geomaterials and porous media transport
- Field instrumentation and wireless sensing systems
