Professor Kenichi Soga delivered Plenary Lecture I at PARTICLES 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, on October 20, 2025. His plenary lecture, titled “Recent Advances in the Material Point Method for Modelling Fluids, Granular Materials, and Coupled Fluid–Granular Behavior,” highlighted recent developments in the Material Point Method, with emphasis on its ability to model complex deformation, granular behavior, fluid motion, and coupled fluid–granular interactions. Professor Soga’s plenary presentation reflects the group’s continuing contributions to computational geomechanics and particle-based numerical methods.
