Hidehiko Sekiya is a visiting scholar in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, USA. He is an Associate Professor in Department of Urban and Civil Engineering, Tokyo City University, Tokyo, Japan. He obtained his Bachelor and Master degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology. After his master degree, he had been working in design department of the liquefied natural gas, Shimizu corporation, Japan for about 2 years. He subsequently obtained a Doctor of Engineering at the Tokyo City University, Japan.
His current research activities include: (a) development and implementation of structural health monitoring system using various sensors (MEMS inertial measurement unit, Fiber optic sensor, vision sensor, infrared thermography sensor, piezoelectric sensor, and so on) and (b) repair and reinforcement of damaged infrastructure.
