Rui Tao is a PhD candidate in Geotechnical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway, and currently a visiting student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervision of Prof. Kenichi Soga. His PhD project focuses on enhancing the detection and prediction of ground displacement-induced anomalies in Norway’s railway system.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering from Hohai University (Nanjing, China) and a Master’s degree in Hydraulic Structure Engineering from Wuhan University (Wuhan, China). His current research emphasizes empowering cities’ climate resilience through multisource data monitoring, with attention to the management of disaster chains.
