Students of CE 170A/278 (Infrastructure Sensing and Modeling, taught by Prof. Kenichi Soga, and Prof. Dimitrios Zekkos) had a lot of fun on September 29th. Model bridge tests were conducted as part of the Infrastructure Sensing module of the course, led by Connor. Three different bridges (control, student choice defects, technician choice defects) were instrumented with distributed fiber optic sensors, linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs), wire potentiometers, and WSN tilt motes to monitor the bridges under a vertical load. Thank you Phil and Irik from Davis Hall’s Structures Lab for all your help!
